RAWDON A flourishing village in the parish of Saint Patrick, township of Rawdon, county of Montcalm district of Joliette. It has extensive water power. Within the last two years quartz and other valuable mineral rocks have been discovered, I said, and found to yield from 80 from four dollars to $35 of gold per ton. The proper machinery will shortly be put up for working them. Large quantities of butter, pork, oatmeal and cloverseed are exported here annually. This place has an extensive trade in timber, flour and potash. Distance from Saint Julienne 6 miles, from Joliette, a station of the Saint Lawrence and Industry Railway 17 miles, from L’Assomption 24 miles, from Terrebonne, 28 miles, from Montreal by way of L’Assomption 48 miles, fare $.50 and $.25; by way of Joliette 53 miles, fare $1.50 and $.75.
