Sound and Light Presentation Présentation du son et de la lumière

June 10, July 1, July 21, 1961 a truly delightful presentation was witnessed by thousands of spectators lucky enough to be present for this unique show in Rawdon.

In 1961 Mr. Henry Pontbriand presented a Sound and Light presentation at the Fourth Chute, now known as Les Cascades.

This was the first show of this type to be presented in Canada. 

The water rushing over rocks inspiring the rise and fall of multi coloured lights reaching skyward was fascinating.

The play was based on the story of the Virgin Mary.

Mr. Pontbriand, a well known tenor in Canada and the United States, was the main participant singing the part of Christ. 

Other Rawdon participants were Father Roger Breault, narrator; a choir. 110 strong, formed of students from College Champagneur and École Ste Anne.

The show, a great success and highly praised by the media, was presented three times during the summer.

Le 10 juin, le 1er juillet et le 21 juillet 1961, des milliers de spectateurs qui ont eu la chance d’assister à ce spectacle unique à Rawdon ont été témoins d’une présentation vraiment ravissante.

En 1961, M. Henry Pontbriand a présenté un spectacle son et lumière à la Fourth Chute, maintenant connue sous le nom de Les Cascades.

C’était le premier spectacle de ce type à être présenté au Canada.

Le bruit de l’eau se précipitant sur les rochers et inspirant l’élévation et la chute de lumières multicolores vers le ciel était fascinant.

La pièce est basée sur l’histoire de la Vierge Marie.

M. Pontbriand, un ténor bien connu au Canada et aux États-Unis, était le principal participant dans le rôle du Christ.

Les autres participants de Rawdon étaient le Père Roger Breault, narrateur ; une chorale. 110 personnes, formée d’élèves du Collège Champagneur et de l’École Ste-Anne.

Le spectacle, qui a connu un grand succès et a été loué par les médias, a été présenté trois fois au cours de l’été.
