The Royal Bank La Banque Royale

In 1912 the Royal Bank opened in this building belonging to Mrs. Ned, Nellie, Rowan.

This was the first bank in Rawdon.

The lettering in the windows read:

On the Left- THE ROYAL BANK OF CANADA INCORPORATED 1869

On the right – SAVINGS DEPARTMENT

DEPARTMENT D’ÉPARGNES

In 1926 it moved to the newly built city hall building.

In 1973 the bank moved down Queen Street into Bernard’s new multi service and apartment building.

Here the bank was directly across the corner from its original site in Nellie Rowan’s complex.

In 2016 there was still another move, to another new building, at the bottom of the hill on Queen Street.

To date it has remained in place.

En 1926, elle a déménagé dans le nouvel édifice de l’hôtel de ville.

En 1973, la banque a déménagé en bas de la rue Queen dans le nouvel immeuble multiservices et à appartements de Bernard.

Ici, la banque se trouvait directement en face de son emplacement original dans le complexe de Nellie Rowan.

En 2016, il y a eu un autre déménagement, dans un autre nouveau bâtiment, en bas de la colline sur Queen Street.

À ce jour, elle est restée en place.
